Multi Pitch

Well, we needed to get back out and do some fun `ol climbing. Besides, school is about to start. So Jason and I headed up to the ever popular finger crack, Beckeys wall. Easy, laid back, no time restrictions. Just chilled climbing. On the last pitch Jason went off route a bit (on pupose) so it was a little harder, but not bad. It was really exposed though, and that I thought was awesome.

I had about 3 hours of climbing before i had to go to my grandma's birthday party. Why we were insane enough to start climbing the thumb in that short amount of time is beyond me (we had aspirations of topping out.. HA!). Let's just say the 'Lunch Ledge'is aptly named. Anywho, It is very much as pure as trad climbing gets. Scree and choss and very moderate climbing. I probabley jugged more than I climbed, but still.. fun, in it's own little way. The approach took about 45 minutes and it took another hour to get to the top of the first pitched.. I only made it half up. Half up was a scree covered ledge where I was able to take myself off belay and work on my tan allowing spence to secure our escape. At that point I had to be home in a half hour. He secured one end of the rope to the anchor, we did one single line rapell down and had another party untie our rope. Very convinient. We made it back in record time (I was walking in my front door 12 minutes late). The communication sucked. At one point I was 60 meters below spence at the belay ledge. We need radios for long trad routes. He got to place his new cam though. 3.5 friend.... yummy.

Biggest group I've ever been in, especially for multipitch. It was me, Spencer, Jason, Lars, and Zed. We took the first pitch of Pentapitch and then traversed over to sasquach, a nice finger to hand crack. Only Jason, Spence and I had shoes so we were the only ones able to go up sasquatch. Spence led, I followed (didn't heave the nut key so I couldn't clean). I got about half way up and fell. I then decided that daylight was burning, I needed to take a leak, neither of my shoes were tied, Jason still had to climb, and I landed in my harness wrong. Mostly I just thought that It wasn't worth it without the greenpoint. So i lowered. It was way fun though. I promise to go back, and I want to camp at the top of that pitch (which equals the top of the 3rd pitch of pentapitch).

This was sweet. My first multi-pitch. A nice and somewhat easy (5.7) climb. Loved it. It was the funnest climb I've been on to date. Absolutely love climbing on the granite, much cleaner that what I've been climbing on so far.
